Body and underarm odor affects everyone at certain time in his/her life. When you exercise excessively or get involved in poor diet, or even when you skip a shower, underarm odor may intrude your life. For some people, the odor is so insignificant, but for others, the bad smell can impact your social life.

Unpleasant smells from the body may come from different areas of the body like armpits, feet or torso. Due to the changes in hormones and sweat glands in adolescence, body odor may occur throughout the rest of your life, if you don’t find solutions to cure it.

If you want to overcome underarm odor, here are 3 proven tips that may help you in doing so effectively.

1. Keep your body clean
Underarm odor is caused by bacterias. Excessive hairs around those areas will hold the sweat longer. That promotes the growth of bacterias. Make sure you take a bath once a day, use the right kind of soap for you, and change clothes regularly after it. Oftentimes, a simple countermeasure like this can help minimize the foul smell.

2. Apply deodorant regularly
Deodorant can help reduce moisture. It usually comes with fragrance. A deodorant can help mask out body odor, but you have to choose the right solution or it make the excessive sweating even worse.

Just like choosing the wrong soap, deodorant can help but you have to choose the one that works for you.

3. Take dietary supplements
Vitamin B can remove waste and zinc helps balance metabolism. Both of them can help reduce bad body odor. This article can’t give you advice related to dietary supplement in accordance to the FDA regulation. You need to consult a licensed expert for this.

Drinking enough water may help too. A significant portion of human body is water. If you lose some of the fluids during perspiration, you need to replenish it quickly. Water minimizes toxin levels and reduce the growth of bacteria that thrives in toxic elements.

Perspiration is normal part of human body. Everybody sweats, but when it reaches a level where one area of the body soaks all the time, that can really affect your social life and self confidence. Excessive perspiration can occur in many different areas on the body.

Most commonly excessive sweating occurs on the palms on the hand (palmar hyperhidrosis), but it is also commonly found on the face (facial hyperhidrosis), feet (plantar hyperhidrosis) and under arm (axillae hyperhidrosis).

Each one of those presents a problem on its own. When you are a business person, shaking hands becomes a problem and can be very uncomfortable if you palms sweat all day long. Many patients report that they are embarrassed to hold hands of those they love. Being in this condition before a meeting with business associate can affect everything. It may be something that cause distraction that you have to spend quite a lot of time paying attention to it.

Regardless of where it occurs, perspiration presents an incredible problem. With palmar hyperhidrosis, everything that you touch, from keyboard to steering wheel becomes sweaty. Ink on the paper smears when you write.

Thankfully, there is a cure for excessive perspiration. Excessive perspiration can be a temporary condition, but in several cases, the condition may continue from the time around puberty to your adult life.

People who suffer from hyperhidrosis perspire all the time, whether living in a hot or cold climate.

Causes of Excessive Perspiration

There are many causes of excessive perspiration. If you take into account various disease from fever to cancer, there are hundreds of them. However, most of the time causes of excessive sweating are as follow:

Genetic. If one of your parents of family members have it, chances are you may inherit it from them. Medical experts have successfully linked that to over activity in the symphatetic nervous system, mainly the Thoracic Sympathetic Ganglion Chain.

Diseases. From thyroids disease to heart problems, they may cause excessive perspiration.

Medications. Certain types of drugs, especially antidepressants may lead to profuse sweating.

Hypoglycemia. If the level of blood sugar drops to a certain level, especially for people who suffer from diabetes, sweating may follow.

Even when eating spicy food and drinking hot beverages may cause sweating. If you want a more complete list, refer to the article about sweating causes.

People whose armpit sweat all the time know how it feels. They are as if isolated from social life because of the embarrassment. People as the whole community tend to think that sweating and body odor have something to do with personal hygiene.

Sweating is perfectly normal. It is even necessary to keep body temperature balance. However, excessive sweating in any place, including underarm, can be very disturbing. Who wants puddles in the shirt when you are walking a block while others ridiculously laugh at you?

For mild cases of excessive armpit sweating (also called axillary hyperhidrosis), changes in day to day things can help you lower or even get rid of this problem. Here are some ideas to get you started:

1. Changing your diet
Spicy foods, alcohol and coffee may promote excessive sweating. Onion, for example, may worsen the body odor. If your main concern is the bad smell, you should consider restricting your diet.

Eating healthy food and consuming multi vitamin may help fighting toxins and supply other nutrition that are missing from your diet.

2. Test soaps
Sometimes soaps can hurt more than they help, especially when they contain ingredients that stimulate the sweat glands. Soaps may kill the bacterias but may trigger sweating int he armpit areas.

It is important to find the right soap, or don’t use it at all. You may use different solutions that kill bacterias.

3. Avoid stress in life
It is about stress management. If yoga and meditation help, why not try it. If that may help balance your life, at least it is useful even though it may not help you with the excessive sweat, although oftentimes it does.

4. Deodorants and/or antiperspirants
Antiperspirants usually contain aluminum chloride. That may help lower excessive sweat in certain cases but they are not effective for others. Some products are combined with deodorants. You may also test deodorant-only solutions.

5. Pay attention to your clothes
Only wear clothes that are loose and let your underarms breathe easier. Natural fabrics like silk and cotton allow sweat to dry quickly.

6. Personal hygiene
Take a bath at least once a day and change clothes after that. Also it is important that you shave or at least trim hairs around the armpit. Armpit sweat that are hold long enough around that area may develop bacteria. This is why unpleasant odor can develop.

Excessive armpit sweating can be part of puberty. You may start having it during puberty or in your early twenties. While sweating is normal part of human body to stabilize temperature, excessive sweating can be very disturbing. During perspiration, you may release oilier sweat that may cause body odor.

The exact cause of sweating may not be easily identified. There are hundreds of sweat causes, ranging from fever, overweight, to diseases. For accuracy, you should consult an MD for thorough examination of your body.

However, before proceeding with more drastic approaches, some people choose to pursue natural treatments first. For some people, profuse sweating is only caused by overactive sweat glands. People having axillary hyperhidrosis (underarm sweating) can sweat even when they only involve in normal activities.

Remedy or Prevention for Armpit Sweating
Over stimulation of sweat glands can cause emotional stress and problems with self-confidence. Stress can often lead to further stimulation, forming a circle of constant sweating.

In several cases, just by controlling your diet can help tremendously. For instance, drinking coffee may exacerbate hyperhidrosis so people who are limiting consumption of it may see immediate results.

If you seek for herbal remedies, it is recommended to avoid herbs that will increase body temperature because of the heat effect. You don’t want it to stimulate the glands to produce more sweat.

Believe it or not, certain types of soap may worsen the problem. While you intend to remove bacterias that will cause body odor, certain types of ingredients in some soaps can stimulate the perpirant-prone area more than they help.

Finally, while sweaty underarms do not represent a health risk, most people concern about their social life. The discomfort of having damp underarms and the fact that people relate to it as bad personal hygiene. Especially in mild cases of armpit sweating, you can often prepare yourself by paying attention to your body.

Shaving can help to prevent the hairs from keeping the sweat for too long, which provide places for bacterias to grow. Taking a bath, change clothes regularly, and take extra clothes within your backpack can be simple but effective too.

Excessive armpit sweat is one of the most common type of sweat problems. This can be very disturbing and it may impact your social life because people often relate to sweat as the lack of personal hygiene. The puddles in your clothes can be an embarrassing experience too. What are different options to cure axillary hyperhidrosis treatment?

Natural Axillary Hyperhidrosis Treatments

Excessive sweating often is limited to only one area of the body. For most people, it is armpits. However, there are also people who have bad facial sweating and on the palms of the hands too. Of all, excessive sweating in the underarms is more likely to cause body odor.

Here are several axilary hyperhidrosis treatments:

1. Antiperspirant
There are many antiperspirant solutions. Most of them contain aluminum chloride. This may or may not suitable for you though. Each individual may have different solution so antiperspirant with high concentration of aluminium chloride may work for A but not B.

2. Deodorant
Several antiperspirant products are combined with deodorants. For mild hyperhidrosis, deodorant-only solution often is more effective.

3. Botox
This involves injection a small dose of botulinum toxin (botox). It is mainly used to get rid of wrinkles but with a tiny dose of it, it may also cure hyperhidrosis, especially in the armpits.

4. Iontophoresis
While the body is in the water, a small electric current is introduced to the body. This may cause a tingling sensation, a bit of discomfort, but works for some people.

5. Surgery
Removal of sweat glands and interrupting the nerve to the glands are two methods of surgery. This approach may be costly so consider this as the last solution.

Sometimes, preparing for your day can help improve your life too, especially if your case of hyperhidrosis is mild. For instance, wearing cotton and other natural material can help your body to maintain its temperature.

Synthetic material causes heat, which trigger the body to release sweat in order to return the body temperature back to normal, hence causing excessive underarm sweating.

Are you fed up with constant and excessive sweating? If you tend to sweat a lot during and after a mild activity like walking around the block, you know how discomfort it is. Not to mention the body odor that comes from it. So, how can you stop excessive sweating?

There are several methods to cure hyperhidrosis and stop excessive sweating, some of them work very well in light to mild cases. Consult a MD if you want to take further approach or if you have tested some of these without significant improvement.

1. Body hygiene
Excessive hairs in the armpits may lead to body odor. They keep the sweat on the armpits for too long and make it a place for bacterias to develop. This is why it can smell badly. The solution is to get rid of the hairs.

Other suggestions include taking a shower or bathe at least once a day and change the clothes every time. Clean body is the first step to prevent body odor. Because let’s face it, it is one of the strongest reasons why people are so ashamed want to stop excessive sweating.

2. Prescribed antiperspirant
You may want to try different types of antiperspirant. Some dermatologists prescribe an anti-perspirant containing aluminum chloride, while others recommend against it. Just because one type of antiperspirant fail to work for you doesn’t mean others will not work as well.

3. Deodorant
Antiperspirant solutions may be combined with deodorant, but not all antiperspirant is suitable for all cases. For some people, deodorant only product can help stop excessive sweating effectively.

4. Oral medication
Antianxiety medications / antidepressants can help if the cause of the excessive sweating is stress. These medications may have side effects such as dry mouth, blurred vision and urination difficulty.

5. Botox (botulinum toxin) injections
As the name implies, botox is a toxin (poison) but a very small dosage can help block the nerves that trigger the sweat glands. Botox injection may be performed a couple of times to achieve the desired results.

Such treatment may only last several months to a year and it can be quite costly and painful.

6. Iontophoresis
While patient is in the water, low electricity current is introduced to the hands, feet, or armpits. This is safe, just that there will be some discomforts and can be time consuming.

7. Surgery
Usually this involves removal of the sweat glands, such as in the armpits. Another type or surgery can be performed to interrupt nerve signal (Endoscopic Transthoracic Sympathectomy, ETS). Over the years, the latter has been used successfully. Approximately 75-80 percent of axillary hyperhidrosis (arpmits) can be cured permanently with surgery.

Many people may not be comfortable with surgery and other drastic approaches. In fact, surgery may indeed be the last resort for most people. You may want to pursue other less drastic or even natural treatments. Some people have very good results with it and that may change your life without spending a lot of money and go through major discomforts.

Hyperhidrosis treatment offers natural and surgical approaches to cure hyperhidrosis. In all cases, you are recommended to visit your MD for medical advices, but if you’d like to look for different options and perhaps try some natural methods, feel free to browse around.

Hyperhidrosis Diagnosis

Hyperhidrosis (also called hyperhydrosis) is a condition that results in excessive sweating in the hands, armpits, face, head, feet and in some instances, the entire body. This is not a rare case, and this health issue affects about 1 percent of the entire world population.

Before going for any kind of hyperhidrosis treatment, patient should be thoroughly interviewed and examined.

While sweating in the palms and soles of feet are most common, it can affect other parts of the body as well.

Condition starts during or after puberty, mostly before 20 years old.

Sometimes other family members have it, but that’s not always the case.

It may also be important to know the attempts to treat the conditions. The next tests may involve blood and urine tests to rule out hyperthyroidism, diabetes, acromegaly and pheochromocytoma.

Hyperhidrosis Treatments

There are several methods to cure hyperhidrosis:

1. Antiperspirant
This is most often used for axillary hyperhidrosis (armpit sweat). Antiperspirant works by targeting the sweat glands and reduce the production of sweat and it is effective for light to moderate hyperhidrosis. Strong solutions may cause red, swollen and itchy skins.

Antiperspirant may also lose its effectiveness over time and must be applied several times a day.

2. Deodorant
This may help with armpit sweating too. Some products combine antiperspirant and deodorant into one single package. Some people report that deodorants (without antiperspirants) work better.

3. Oral medication
Antianxiety medications / antidepressants can help if the cause of the excessive sweating is stress. These medications may have side effects such as dry mouth, blurred vision and urination difficulty.

5. Iontophoresis
In iontophoresis treatment, low current of electricity is introduced to the hands, feet, or armpits while the patient’s body is in the water. Although it is safe, it may cause discomfort and mild skin irritation. The procedure is also time consuming and may not be permanent.

Human body consists of 2 - 3 millions of sweat glands. People sweat from places other than underarms, including hands, facial and head sweating. Quite a few people also experience sweating in their backs, feet as well as in genital area.

People who suffer from face and/or head sweating can potentially be very embarrassing because it is more difficult to disguise than sweating in other places of the body.

Causes of Face and Head Sweating

There are many causes of head sweating and in some cases it may include pounding in the head, ranges from a whooshing to heavy pounding. It is hard to identify and pinpoint the cause unless complex medical check up is involved.

A few of the most common causes are:

Genetic problems present since birth.

Hormone imbalance, such as thyroid disorder and tumors. They thyroid glands produce various hormones that are used by the body. Thyroid disease may cause various symptoms from dry skin to excessive sweating.

Frequent use of shampoos! This may sound hilarious, but several medical experts actually back this up with studies. Used too regularly, some kind of shampoos may actually contribute to excessive head sweating.

Head Sweating Treatments

Excessive sweat on the head can be hyperhidrosis. It can lead to many other effects other than embarrassment. Patients may feel discomfort because of the itch in the scalp and unhealthy hair. Sweat trapped in the hairs can promote bad smell.

Excessive sweating can be controlled. You should consult an MD immediately if you think you are suffering from head hyperhidrosis, although natural treatments may be sought after if first, especially in situations when it is not severe.

Medical therapies such as aluminum containing compounds, such as drysol, or oral medications may help. Botox (botulinum toxin) and iontopheresis (introducing small electric current) have not been tried though.

In severe cases, patient may need thorough checkup such as MRI scan, blood pressure check and examination of family history of heart disease and cancer. MRI would rule out many of the anatomical causes or masses.

Natural treatments may involve various herbal remedies. It may take some time, so it is important that you make commitment to finish it and be persistent.
